Rock Computers rebrands as rockdirect.com
20.09.00
UK-based notebook computer specialists Rock Group plc have
today announced that they are to rebrand their direct division,
Rock Computers, as rockdirect.com. Its objective is to reflect
the new way that business transactions are being made, especially
as 25of all new orders are transacted on-line.
“It is Rock’s focus and commitment to the portable computer
industry and its direct model that has made it one of the
largest and most respected notebook manufacturers in the UK,”
says Nick Boardman, Managing Director. “We have achieved 70year-on-year
growth in turnover for the first quarter of our new fiscal
year, but more significantly, 52of all business is from repeat
buyers, confirming our commitment to service and support is
highly valued. ”
The new Website will make the notebook purchasing process
easier and more convenient for both new and existing customers.
Once a customer has registered their personal details in order
to make a purchase, that information is stored and automatically
retrieved when the customer returns to the site, making repeat
purchasing a lot faster and convenient. Customers also have
the ability to edit recorded details and review order transaction
history.
On-line customers will be kept up-to-date with their order
progression from the initial online request right through
to completion and despatch of the product. Customers who place
their orders on-line will receive notification from Rock’s
proactive internal logistics software via e-mail at every
stage of the order cycle. With an average delivery lead-time
of just 48hours, an online order tracking facility for non-despatched
orders is not necessary. Customers will receive a Copy of
the Sales Order Acknowledgement confirming order number and
despatch due date as soon as the order is entered onto our
system and a Despatch Note confirming delivery address and
goods shipped will be emailed as soon as the order has left
our warehouse.
Extending their commitment to offer its customers the best
Internet-based solution, rockdirect.com will also feature
an on-line order tracking facility for orders that have been
despatched. Working in partnership with Initial City Link,
on-line customers can now obtain package status information
from the point when the product is despatched, through to
delivery. On-line users will be able to enter their Rock sales
order number to obtain useful tracking information with speed,
reliability and efficiency.
Users of the new rockdirect.com Website will be able to access
up to the minute news and reviews on Rock’s award winning
range of notebooks taken from all major IT publications. Customers
will have the option to either purchase a notebook with a
set specification or they may customise each machine to meet
their own exact requirements. It is Rock’s intention to give
as much control as possible to the customer, 24 hours a day,
7 days a week. Registered customers will automatically receive
newsletters informing them of new product launches, industry
news, company news, product reviews, special offers and competitions.
It’s also Rock’s aim to meet the needs of art and production
editors and key journalists alike within the print media industry.
The “Pressroom” area will contain print and web ready images
of all existing products and company logos suitable for print
reproduction.
Rock have established a constant advertising presence in
the business and end user press, and with the rebrand, intend
on channelling customers towards its new rockdirect.com Website.
Rock are sure that the rebrand, and investment in the new
e-commerce and internal logistics software, will streamline
order processing and enhance customer relationship values.
Editors note: rockdirect.com, a division of Rock Group
Plc, is one of the UK’s leading notebook specialist manufacturers
now in its 10th year of trading.
