We approached Rock Direct during the summer 2004 holiday, to enquire about their mobile classroom solutions. We had previously seen them advertised in leaflets, and also read their favourable reviews in the ICT Education magazine.

Rock were very friendly and assigned us an account manager so that we were able to keep a single point of contact, making liaison very easy – something that other companies and retail outlets are unable to do. We were interested in the Pegasus CTS model, mainly due to the optional extended battery – allowing laptops to be used for up to 7 hours per day between charges – which was perfect for the school day.

Our account manager visited the school during the holiday and spent the afternoon with us demonstrating their products – allowing us to see exactly how they would perform in our environment. This kind of service I feel is an absolute necessity when multiple machines are being purchased, and again a service that some competitors do not offer. Our account manager went away with a list of our requirements and built the school a package which met our every need, rather than quoting for an ‘off the shelf' package which is mass produced generically for all kinds of clients. Prices were very competitive too, which is always a bonus!

The mobile classroom has been in service for 1 year now – we have only had one problem to date, which occurred in the first week of use – Rock's support partner (Mobile Support) repaired the laptop and returned it to us very quickly.

The mobile classroom is used on a daily basis and travels between many classrooms in the school. The Bretford charging trolley allows the laptops to be charged together overnight whilst also being locked securely away.

We have recently purchased a further mobile classroom for use in the schools' technology department, which has already proved to be a huge success, allowing our pupils to take advantage of modern CAD/CAM/3D Modelling software in their subject area.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rock Direct to other schools, and will certainly be contacting them in the future should any further requirements become apparent.
