Aside from its new Core 2 Duo CPU, the Xtreme CTX-PRO sticks with a tried-and-tested gaming laptop formula. There’s a 512MB GeForce Go 7900GTX graphics card, the same as that found in Dell’s latest XPS, along with 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 100GB 7,200rpm hard drive, and a speedy 8x dual-layer DVD writer. All of these components are contained within the usual wedge-shaped chassis. The energy-efficient Core 2 Duo CPU means that the CTX PRO is noticeably quieter than previous CTs and CTXs. The chassis includes a 17in widescreen display, and for our review sample, Rock sensibly opted for a 1,680 x 1,050 panel.
