The fastest notebook we’ve seen, but Core 2 Duo is just round the corner

“Powerful processor, good design, fast graphics”

“Intels’Core 2 Duo notebook platform might be just round the corner, but if you’re after a powerful notebook and can’t wait a second longer, the Xtreme CTX T2700 from rock certainly delivers.”

“It’s powered by the latest Intel T2700 Core Duo processor, which has a clockspeed of 2.33GHz, 667MHz front-side bus (FSB) and a sizeable 2Mb of Level 2 cache. In an effort to appeal to mobile gamers, rock has supplied it with 1GB of DDR2 677MHz Ram and, far more importantly, an Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GTX. This super-fast mobile graphics card is supplied with 512Mb of devoted memory –double the 256Mb we’re used to seeing. As a result, the Xtreme CTX T2700 took our benchmarks by storm.”

“With such a powerful graphics card and a gaming audience in mind, rock has taken the sensible decision to fit a 17in display as standard. With a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 this screen is capable of getting the most out of the 512Mb GeForce Go 7900 GTX.”

“When you look over the impressive spec sheet you soon realise just how much you’re getting for your money.”

Please note: This review covered the Xtreme CTX, a model identical to the current Xtreme CTX Pro but the newer Pro version is boosted with the addition of Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
