Having reviewed the Rock Xtreme 770 in Issue 107, we were aware of its high- performance for gaming and home use. However, when upgraded with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 Penyrn processor, we saw a noticeable increase in power, but a slight drop in mobility. Where previously we could work for up to 148 minutes using Vista’s High Performance settings , we were now only able to get 99 minutes of use from a full battery charge.
Benchmark performance increased by more than 20per cent and we’re sure to see a further performance boost once the full Penryn chipset is released.
Speaking to WL, Rock Ceo Nick Boardman said: ‘Another die shrink for Intel means it can yet again push the supberb performance, cool running and lower power consumption of the Core 2 Duo processor’.
