 Reviews / Xtreme 770 - Windows Vista
-Gaming Monster
Month 2 – The T7500 is actually the entry-level model in the range, and this gets you an Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz processor, 2GB RAM, an HD DVD drive and an nVidia Ge Force 8700M GT graphics card with 512MB of memory. Rock includes an HD DVD drive in all the laptops in its Xtreme range, and it·s a great choice. The 17-inch screen might seem a little small to show off high-definition movies to their best, but they look great.
I·ve only had a chance to play Call of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2 on it so far, and both ran flawlessly, even with every graphics setting turned right up. The screen has a bit too much contrast out of the box, and I haven·t yet found a way of adjusting this, but I·ll probably get used to it.
Only one problem – all that power seems to be getting it a little hot under the collar. The power supply that connects into the back if it is getting so hot that it·s burning my fingers when I take it out Rock sent me a new supply but it doesn·t seem to have worked, so it might be going back for a health check...
I like: Flawless gaming
I don·t like: A little too much contrast
