News / ‘BIG TOY’ Car Enters Cannonball Run 2004

13-09-2022

Yes, you did read the heading correctly!

Nick Boardman, Managing Director of Rock Group plc, is going to be competing in the notorious Cannonball Run this year, the most talked about driving adventure in Europe. Nick is going to be driving his silver Porsche GT3 that has been specially customised for the event courtesy of his sponsors, ATI.

If you’re lucky enough to see Nick on his travels, you would be forgiven for thinking you have just seen an overgrown Scaletrix speed by, as his brilliantly customised Porsche GT3, sports the registration plate of ‘BIG TOY’

“The Cannonball run is the ultimate driving challenge” said Nick, “the chance to put both driver and car through their paces, ‘BIG TOY’ has been serviced and tuned to perfection, bring on September 17th, we’re raring to go!”

The Cannonball run is a 2,683 mile driving experience across Europe in all terrain, that requires wit and courage that most of us can only experience on our favourite pc rally game. But Nick is not the only member of Rock Group to be competing in the event, helping Nick to navigate his way through some of the most exhilarating driving experiences is co driver, and co worker, Luke Ireland, Rock’s Commercial Director.

“Taking part in this demanding event is a once in a lifetime opportunity I just couldn’t turn down.” Said Luke, “It’s not for the faint hearted, it’s the drive of your life. The Cannonball run takes no prisoners ”

I’m sure everyone would like to offer them both the best of luck, and if their car, the ‘BIG TOY’ is anything like their laptops, it will certainly have the technology, power and speed to see them finishing in first place. Lets just hope the driving and navigation skills are up to the same standard!
