19-11-2022

Warwick 19th November 2007, rock announced the release of the awe-inspiring NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800M GTX GPU on a mobile platform. The multi-award winning 17” rock Xtreme 770 is the first in the country to feature the new graphics chip making it one of the world’s most powerful laptops to date.

Nick Boardman, CEO rock, remarked “Gamers have been crying out for this long awaited addition to rock’s notebook line-up for almost 6 months”. NVIDIA’s mobile 8 series graphics was first debuted by rock in May this year. He continued “Once again, NVIDIA haven’t let us down, the sheer performance of the GeForce 8800M GTX is truly amazing and harnessing the power of DirectX 10 takes rock to the next level”.

“For gamers who demand mobility as well as the ultimate in graphics power, the GeForce 8800M GTX is a dream”, says Serge Palaric, Director Notebook Business at NVIDIA. “Mobile gaming no longer means compromising – now gamers can enjoy the best performance in the latest DirectX 10 titles on their notebook PC. We’re very pleased to be working with rock to bring this unprecedented visual experience to notebook users.”

The GeForce 8800M GTX could not have come at a better time with the recent release of Crysis, arguably the best example of DirectX 10 gaming to date. Earlier this year, rock was also first in the World to make HD-DVD drives standard across the entire range of its notebooks. On a 1080p capable screen and fully utilising NVIDIA’s PureVideo HD technology, the Xtreme 770 8800 edition promises HD-DVD video in vivid colour, superb picture clarity and a longer battery life.

The Xtreme 770 featuring GeForce 8800M GTX is available on www.rockdirect.com today starting from £1799 inc VAT and in time for Christmas delivery. Pre-orders on www.rockdirect.com will receive a free upgrade to a WUXGA (1920x1200) screen. Rock will also provide GeForce 8800M GTX upgrade options for existing Xtreme 770 7950M GTX and 8700M GT customers beginning early 2008.
