04-06-2022
Incisor of Wight, sponsored jointly by rock and Intel today finished 40th on elapsed time from a field of over 1500 boats. The annual Round the Island Race, organised by the Island Sailing Club, is the most prestige fixture on the Solent racing calendar. Competitors come from around the world, as well as all over the UK, to follow the 55 mile course round the Isle of Wight.
Incisor of Wight finished in 9 hours 31 minutes to come 40th on elapsed time from 735 finishers out of a field of 1587 boats. The light wind meant that many vessels failed to complete the tricky circuit of the island. On corrected time including handicaps, Incisor of Wight came in an hour ahead of Chernikeef 2 with Ellen MacArthur amongst the crew and two hours ahead of two Americas Cup boats; France 2 and France 3.
The fastest monohull in the race was Red owned by Charles Dunstone of Carphone Warehouse in 9 hour 7 minutes 13 seconds. Incisor was 24 mins slower but on corrected time Incisor was over an hour quicker. On corrected time (allowing for handicap) Incisor finished ahead of many famous names and boats;
Bear of Britain - Kit Hobday - 1 hour slower France 2 + France 3 - America Cup Boats - 3 hours slower Chernikeef 2 - owned by Peter Harrison who sponsored the GBR Americas Cup Challenge and included Ellen MacArthur in her crew - 1 hour slower
Incisor of Wight is a Corby 45 grand prix racer and a veteran of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers in the Caribbean where she came 2nd in her class.
