Changing Screen Brightness
In order to conserve battery life, it is wise to dim the screen brightness because this accounts for a significant percentage of your notebook's overall power requirement. Some models will do this automatically when away from mains power but for most it is necessary to manually dim the screen.
For most notebooks, changing the screen brightness is done by simply holding the Fn/Function key in the bottom left of the keyboard whilst pressing the appropriate F key at the top of the keyboard. The key to use varies between models but is usually indicated by an outline drawing of a sun accompanied by an up or down arrow.
If your notebook automatically dims the screen and you don't want it to, these keys can also be used to increase the brighness.
If the key isn't marked or you are unsure of which one to use, please refer to the user manual supplied with your notebook or download it from the product page if available.
