Stuff Magazine (September '04)

What’s this? A laptop built for gaming from the ground up it’s packed full of gaming-friendly kit, not least the 128MB mobile Radeon 9700, one of the best graphics processors for laptops. On top of that, it’s well-specified, all-round road warrior, with wireless LAN and plenty of onboard connections.

Any good? For a laptop, it’s a killer. It mullered its way through Doom 3, Halo and Unreal Tournament 2004 with flair. But its weight might also murder your back and its cost will almost certainly give your bank manager a heart attack. Latops are not great games machines. They’re not expandable, they can’t be cooled efficiently and when its comes to mouse/keyboard ergonomics, forget it. But if you must take your own personal hell with you wherever you go, this is the way to do it. Overall it managed the weakest frame rates of all five machines, proving there’s only so far you can push a laptop when it comes to games.

Stuff says
If you must take games everywhere, this is an extreme piece of kit. But it’s pricey and heavy.
