EDUCATION NOTEBOOK IS AS SOLID AS
A ROCK
When it comes to accessing information these days
everybody needs it yesterday.
This means that you either need to lug your desktop
PC around with you, including monitor! Or invest in
a stylish notebook that is always ready to perform
any time, any place, any where…
The latter option is bar far the best one - especially
for your back! - and one notebook definitely
worth considering is Rock’s Pegasus CTS.
Aimed more at the education market, this notebook
is excellent.
It boasts a stylish appearance with a sleek, silver
case, weighs only 2.5kg and is very thin, meaning you’re
definitely not going to put your back out carrying
this one.
It features a 1.6Ghz Intel Pentium M processor, featuring
Centrino Mobile technology. In other words, it’s
a pretty fast machine and it means you can connect
to networks and Wi-Fi hotspots without location a phone
socket.
For those who don’t know, Wi-Fi
is a way of connecting without wires to thousands of
locations
all over the place and includes cafes, airports, colleges
and recently even MacDonalds.
Centrino technology also means you get better battery
performance from the notebook, lasting up to 4.5 hours
with its extended system battery life.
On top of that the notebook offers up to 512mb of
DDR RAM, a 40gb hard drive, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive,
a 56k modem, a 10/100Mbps LAN (network card) and a
built-in video camera…it definitely covers most
bases.
The Pegasus CTS does boast a pretty impressive spec,
so why is it being aimed at the education market?
It’s a question I asked myself until I tried
to play one of the latest graphic-intensive 3D games - the
notebook just didn’t want to know. The shared
8mb graphics just isn’t designed for playing
high-power games…but neither is the CTS, it’s
aimed at students and teachers…and they shouldn’t
be playing games!
From their point of view, the CTS
is a perfect machine. It will run most of the multimedia
applications you
throw at it, and as it comes pre-installed with Windows
XP Home Edition and Ability Office you can practically
start writing your dissertation on it as soon as you
open the box.
The Pegasus CTS, which at the time of going to press
was priced from £799, is definitely worth considering
especially if you just want it for college work.
I have been using it to design a website, and so far
it has not even blinked, coping perfectly with all
the multimedia and graphic elements I have thrown at
it.
There’s no doubt that the CTS notebook is a
rock you can rely on.
