SIGMA SI

Rock has managed to fit a 1GHz mobile processor in a budget
notebook – quite a feat.
A 1 GHz Pentium III flip chip powers the Rock Sigma Si,
which makes it the first Budget notebook to break the 1,000MHz
barrier. Twinned with 256Mb of RAM, this helped the
Recommended notebook to turn in a WorldBnench score of 152 –
the highest in the chart.
The rest of its hardware line-up is uncannily similar to
the Discovery’s, featuring an onboard graphics card to which
you can allocate up to 32MB of system memory, an eight-speed
DVD-ROM drive and an average quality 14.1in TFT screen. Even
the dimensions of the two notebooks are identical.
Rock is the first manufacturer to bring a 1GHz notebook to
our Budget chart and, if you want the most power for the
price, this is the machine for you. If it had been that little
bit cheaper it would have taken the top spot in out chart, but
still gains itself a Recommended award.
