Pegasus T4 - Micro Mart (Jun '05)
BEST BUY AWARD
Notebook veteran Rock’s entry is very similar to the Evesham Voyager x4. With a virtually identical chassis, the main thing to mark them out aesthetically is the colour scheme. The Pegasus, with its darker styling, isn’t as nice looking, but taken alone is still pleasing to the eye. Along with the Evesham, this notebook is one of the least portable on test: its weight is mainly due to the relatively large 14.1” screen, which is big for an ‘ultra portable’ laptop, and a bigger battery. Both keyboard and touchpad are superb, making for a notebook that’s great to use with an overall high level of build quality.
The core configuration is excellent, particularly the DVD-RW drive and fast processor. Again, a better graphics processor would work wonders for the Pegasus regardless, it does have some of the best graphics performance figures of all the notebooks with integrated chipsets. This includes figures that are superior to the similarly spec’d Evesham. Battery life is excellent at nearly four hours - the best on test. The presence of both DVI and S/PDIF connectivity in addition to the other more standard options is good to see, and makes for a greater number of connection options than you’ll have had on a laptop before, such as a digital connection to a TFT monitor for example. Rock’s superb three-year collect - and - return warranty is extensive and makes the Pegasus even better value for money. This notebook is ideal for anyone wanting comprehensive connectivity options, a big screen and a capable but basic level of 3D graphics performance.
