11.04.03

THE FIRST TRUE NOTEBOOK DESIGN FOR PERFORMANCE, WORK STATION CLASS GRAPHICS, COMMUNCATION & HIGH QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT

Warwick based notebook manufacturer rockdirect, has today announced its new high performance notebook to the mobile market, the Quaddra XT. This new notebook from rockdirect houses the very latest state-of-the-art components that enable the best in multimedia entertainment, high-speed communication and computing capabilities in one compact unit. Never before have avid gamers and multimedia users been faced with such a serious notebook option.

This latest addition to Rocks notebook portfolio makes no compromise on specification. Not only does the Quaddra XT feature a large, luxurious, high resolution 15” SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) display and full-function computing power comparable to desktop PC’s, it also comes with a whole host of connectivity options making it ideal for the home, home office or business environment.

For performance, the Quaddra XT features an Intel Pentium 4 3.06Ghz processor (running at 533MHz FSB) and supports Hyper-Threading Technology, resulting in greater performance and system responsiveness when running multiple applications at once. Furthermore, the unit also incorporates the revolutionary performance of ATI’s Mobility Radeon 9000 graphics card with 64Mb dedicated video memory, delivering the fastest-performing 3D graphics for the avid gamer, or the professional looking for workstation-class graphics from their notebook PC.

For high quality communication and entertainment, a built-in video camera module is just one of the additions to this new notebook from rockdirect that increases overall functionality to its users by means of providing net meeting and video conferencing capabilities. The Quaddra XT also features Bluetooth technology (optional) allowing wireless file sharing, instant messaging and data transfer between other Bluetooth-enabled devices. In total, the unit provides customers with six different means to connect and remain flexible depending on the user's situation. Whether it's via 10/100Mbps LAN, 56k modem, fast Infrared, IEEE Firewire, USB 2.0 or Bluetooth, the Quaddra XT offers the ultimate in connectivity options.

At only 36mm, the Quaddra XT has a three-spindle design that brings together a CD-RW/DVD combo drive, floppy disk and up to 80Gb hard disk drive making it surprisingly portable and compact for an all-in-one, 15-inch, Pentium 4 notebook computer solution.
For users who desire a portable computer, but don't want to do without the leading-edge power of a Pentium 4 processor, advanced 3D graphics, and roomy display, the Quaddra XT is the answer.

Other highlights of the Quaddra XT include serial and parallel port, PS/2 and a VGA port for easy connection to projectors or monitors. For audio, the Quaddra XT features optical S/PDIF sound output for DVD content and stereo audio, and comprehensive audio facilities with built-in microphone and stereo speakers.

“We are proud to be the first to deliver new, powerful, exciting and effective notebook solutions to the mobile market,” say’s Nick Boardman, Managing Director of rockdirect, “and we are pleased to have set yet another industry benchmark with the launch of the new Quaddra XT.
