Rockdirect has introduced another
model with a widescreen display, but instead of being
a games machine, it’s a portable device. The
Pegasus DTS (from £1174 inc.VAT) features a 15.4-inch
TFT WXGA screen that displays 1280 x 800 pixels with
a PC camera fixed into the top. It also has enhanced
sound with five speakers, including an integrated sub-woofer.
However, in spite of these features, the company has
tried to keep it portable by incorporating Intel’s
Centrino mobile technology. Although it’s a large
chassis, the specified weight of 2.5kg suggests Rockdirect
has succeeded.
The range uses Intel Pentium M processors up to 1.7Ghz
also utilising Intels 802.11b WLAN card and the 855GM
chipset’s integrated graphics. A DVD-R/RW drive
is an option, replacing the standard DVD/CD-ROM combo,
and fixed storage goes from 30GG to 80GB. Standard
memory allocation is 256MB of DDR SDRAM, with 512MB
supplied with the 1.7GHz processor.
