Introduction
This booklet has been designed to help the novice user to set up their Rock Sigma Si notebook computer with Windows Me. Some knowledge of computers is required to follow through this booklet. If you experience any difficulties when setting up the software, contact Mobile Support Customer Services. Please ensure all extra devices (PC cards, Modems, Network cards, external mice etc.) are removed before starting this installation. If you have any queries regarding any part of this installation, please do not hesitate to contact the Mobile support technical support department Please have the following disks and CD's to hand, as theses will be required during the process of installing Windows to your hard drive. This Installation process may take up to 2 hours to install depending on the speed of your machine. Please backup any files required, as the hard drive is going to be completely wiped clean. How To Use The F-disk Windows Me on your Sigma Si 1) Enter the F-Disk Program by booting from a Windows 98 boot disk
Complete Reinstall WARNING: ALL DATA ON HARD DISK DRIVE WILL BE DELETED These instructions assume a completely blank Hard Disk.
Follow, Fdisk Instructions Enclosed for a hard drive that contains information, and proceed from step 1 thereafter. 1. Switch The Sigma On and, when prompted, press CTRL ALT S to enter set-up

Installation of Sound Drivers on Sigma Si Under Windows Me 1. Boot into windows
The Sound drivers are now installed - to test reboot the computer and you should hear a jingle as Windows restarts� Installation of the PCI card (modem) on Sigma Si for Windows Me 1. Insert the drivers CD supplied with the computer.
Installation of the Ethernet card on Sigma Si for Windows Me 1. Insert the drivers CD supplied with the computer.
Installation of the DVD software on the Sigma Si for Windows Me 1. Insert the Win DVD 2000 CD into the drive
Please note when using some DVD's they have PC Friendly software to view the DVD film. Please DO NOT INSTALL this as they tend to conflict with the WinDVD Software
2) Choose boot without CDROM support and wait for the system to load.
3) Type "Fdisk" at A:\>
4) Enter the fdisk by pressing enter to [Y]
5) Display Partition Information by pressing [4] and note the partitions present
6) Press ESC to get back to the main menu and delete the partitions present by choosing number [3] Delete Partition or Logical DOS Drive
7) You need to remove non DOS Partitions by selecting [4] Select delete non-DOS Partition and
8) press enter to continue.
9) You will be conformed with a message "Are you sure", Press [Y] for Yes and Enter
10) After removing Partition[s] press ESC to go back to the main screen.
11) Check to see if all partitions are removed by selecting [4] View Partition Information there should no Partitions defined and press Esc and reboot the machine.
2. Select Start-up and then select Boot Device. Enable 1st boot CD-ROM Drive 2nd boot Diskette A and 3rd boot Hard Disk C.
3. Select OK, and then Exit then Save Changes and Exit, and OK to confirm
4. Insert Windows Me CD and wait for windows Me loads some files
5. Press enter to set-up windows Me when prompted
6. Press Enter to install using unallocated disk space, which is recommended
7. Highlight " yes enable large disk support " and press enter to continue
8. Computer will restart. Boot the computer from CD-ROM
9. Start windows set-up from CD-ROM and press enter
10. Please wait while set-up formats the hard drive, this may take a few minutes
11. Set-up will perform routine checks and continue to install windows, please press enter to continue installation
12. Click next and next again to prepare your drive to install in windows directory
13. Click next to install a typical installation as recommended, then click next to install common components
14. Type name of the computer and description if required
15. Click next, select the correct country region and click next again, select the correct time zone and once again click next.
16. Select Finish to begin copying files, this may take several minutes
17. Fill the user information by entering your name and company if applicable then click next to continue
18. Read the license agreement select "I accept the agreement" and click next
19. Carefully enter the Product ID number found on your certificate of Authenticity, which is found on the windows manual.
20. Restart the machine. On reboot the machine will continue to finalise the settings.
21. Restart the machine and boot into windows
22. Congratulations, you have now installed Windows 2000. All that is left is to install is the video drivers and modem, network card drivers - instructions are included overleaf
2. Double click on my computer and double click the CDROM drive
3. Once the drive starts to spin, double click video folder, and then double click the win98 folder
4. Double click the set-up icon represented by a computer monitor
5. Click next and do a typical installation
6. Click next and next, wait for files to be copied
7. Restart the machine
8. Right Click on the desktop and select properties
9. Click the Settings tab from the menu above and change the screen area and colours to Size: 1024x768
Colours: High Colour (16 Bit)
10. Click the advance tab and there should the full SIS options available
11. Apply theses setting by clicking on apply and then OK
2. Double click on my computer and double click the CDROM drive
3. Once the drive starts to spin, double click sound folder, and then double click the win98 folder
4. Double click the set-up icon represented by a computer monitor
5. Click next and do a typical installation
6. Click next and next, wait for files to be copied
7. Restart the machine
2. Right click on My Computer click properties and then click Device Manager
3. Select PCI Card, this device is listing under Other Devices
4. Click the reinstall driver tab and click next
5. Search for better drivers as recommended,
6. Windows mat list a set of drivers select the correct driver with the correct operating system marked next to it and continue with the set-up
7. Restart the machine when finished for the drivers to take effect
2. Right click on My Computer click properties and then Device Manager
3. Double click the PCI Ethernet Controller, this device is listing under Other Devices
4. Click the reinstall driver tab and click next
5. Wait whilst it searches for best drivers and installs them. You may be required to select from a list the correct drivers.
6. Click finish and restart the machine as requested.
2. Wait for the Auto run
3. Click the Install InterVideo WinDVD 2000 tab
4. Click the install now tab and wait for the set-up to start
5. Click the next tab, agree with the licence agreement and click yes
6. Type the name of the computer usually Sigma SI and the serial number from the envelope for the CD and click next.
7. Click the next tab, select the typical installation, click next and wait for the files to be copied and click finish.
8. Install the direct x version 7 from the CD when prompted then click ok to restart the machine.
